Ronny Günl

Ronny Günl graduated from the University of Vienna in 2022 with a degree in Theatre, Film and Media Studies. Starting from a standpoint of critical theory, he explored the philosophical interrelation between historical materialism and aesthetic theory in his master’s thesis. In particular, he examined the films and writings of media artists and theorists Harun Farocki and Andrei Ujică. Aside from his academic profile, he writes for several publications on the present and past culture of cinema. Recently, he co-edited and contributed to an anthology on the Austrian filmmaker Ruth Beckermann and her films (Filmreihe Beckermann, Filmclub Tacheles, 2022).
